The A220 is two for two on this trip

I’m siting I’m the runway while they shut down the engines for a restart and reboot. This is the second flight in a row now where the pilot has told us the electronics need a reset.

Feeling a bit like a beta tester at the moment.

But you’re cool with flying in a machine with bare minimum safety factors?

Well I’d rather reboot on the ground than after takeoff at least

Someone needs to tell pilots that aircraft cannot be troubleshooted by using the geek squad hotline

Absolutely. Give me a pair of goggles and strap me to the wing of a biplane. I’m ready for some barnstormin’!

Bombardiers are solid. They may be complicated, but you’ll be ok. I credit it to the nose-to-the-grindstone 3-hour days the Quebecois assembly line puts in . They added a second shift in the afternoon. Everyone is very well rested.

Air travel really has come full circle.

When it first hit the scene, you accepted the fact that you would probably die while using it.

Then it became safer and more sophisticated than any zeppelin or luxury liner. You’re living the high life, champagne and caviar and all the hat boxes you can carry, no extra charge .

Then it made everyone wish we were dead.

Now we’re back to accepting each flight might be our last... and we wish we were dead.

Beautiful plane. On the plus side at least they don’t have to do computer tests in flight. That would be sketchy .

I feel like “turning it off and turning it back on again” is not an acceptable way to fly a plane. What is going to happen when they have to do this in the air? Okay I guess we are going to glide for a few minutes while we restart in “safe mode”.

Never stop joking about French Canadians. There is one thing, just one thing in the world that unites French, British and Germans and that is to poke at the French Canadians, not Canadians, just the French Canadians .

“Have you tried turning the airplane off and on again?”

“Can you try unplugging the engine and plugging it back in?”

“Okay, under control panel, I need you to click ‘system update.’ Okay now click OK. ... wait, you aren’t in the air are you?”

The right one needed the restart on the outbound. Today it was both. Pilot said something about sensors needing to be reset. Any of our planelopnik opponaughts should chime in on what that  might have meant.

Interesting point. I'm up here in Canada, but even then, government workers do get pretty good medical/dental benefits. At various points in my life, both of my parents were teachers, so we had things like regular dental appointments. It's surprising the difference that that can make in a kid's life.

Oh yeah, down here the social safety net isn’t as big.

Yes, regular pediatric and dental care starts you off the right way at a time when everything is changing fast and how you deal with things affects your later adult years
